2025 Wastewater Administrator's Conference (WWAdCon)
Thursday, January 23 - Friday, January 24, 2025 | Bavarian Inn, Frankenmuth 
Abstracts are being sought for the technical program of the 2025 Wastewater Administrators Conference (also known as WWAdCon). This conference provides the opportunity to interact with other superintendents and administrators from across the state.

TOPICS BEING REQUESTED:
Managerial Topics
: Staffing and Human Resources, Occupational Health/Health and Safety, Financing and Utility Rates, Wastewater Utility Policy, Management and Leadership, and Employee Leadership and Development.

Technical Topics: EGLE/Policy Update, Water Quality, Residuals and Biosolids, Municipal Wastewater Treatment Process and Design, Collection Systems, Modeling and Simulations, Energy Efficiency/Sustainability, Energy Generation and Managementm Asset Management/Maintenance, Laboratory/Analytical, Instrumentation and Controls, Treatment Innovations, and Water Resource Recovery.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Presenters shall provide a brief (one page or less) written abstract summarizing their talk.
  • The abstract shall include the presentation title and contact info.
  • Presentations shall be 25 to 40 minutes in length, and allow 5 minutes for questions and answers.
  • Presenters are to utilize MS PowerPoint® software for the visual aid. A laptop computer and projector will be available.
  • Final presentations are to be submitted electronically three (3) weeks prior to the conference.
  • Presenters do not need to pay conference registration fees for the day that they are presenting. Attending additional days of the conference may require a registration fee.
  • Presenters must be willing to have their presentation recorded for an online version of the event, to be shared with registered attendees at the discretion of MWEA.

2025 Operator Days
Tuesday, February 4th and Wednesday, February 5th, 2025 | Lansing Center, Lansing
Abstracts are being sought for the technical program of the 2025 Operator Days. Operator Days is the classroom training part of Joint Expo. Over 1,100 water and wastewater utility managers and operators attend this event annually. Due to the attendee size, attendees are divided into 2 rooms, so presenters are REQUIRED to give the same presentation TWICE that day (once in each room).

TOPICS BEING REQUESTED must be TECHNICAL in nature and must apply to both water and wastewater operators: Lab, Pumps, Lifts, MISS DIG, Leadership, Galvanized Service Line Replacements (GLSR), Work Culture, Implementation of GIS, Updating Asset Management Plans or Creating Them, and Creating/Implementing a Safety Program.

  • Presenters shall provide a brief (one page or less) written abstract summarizing their talk.
  • The abstract shall include the presentation title and contact info.
  • Presentations shall be 45-60 minutes in length, and allow 5 minutes for questions and answers.
  • Presenters are to utilize MS PowerPoint® software for the visual aid. A laptop computer and projector will be available.
  • Final presentations are to be submitted electronically three (3) weeks prior to the conference.
  • Presenters do not need to pay conference registration fees for the day that they are presenting. Attending additional days of the conference may require a registration fee.
  • Presenters must be willing to have their presentation recorded for an online version of the event or to be shared with registered attendees at the discretion of MWEA & MI-AWWA.

2025 Annual Conference - 100th Year
Sunday, June 15th - Wednesday, June 18th, 2025 | Boyne Mountain, Boyne
Celebrating a century as an association, the MWEA 100th Annual Conference is June 15-18, 2025 at Boyne Mountain Resort. Abstracts are now being considered from all aspects of the water sector. (We especially encourage all innovative projects!)

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Presenters shall provide a brief abstract (500 words or less) summarizing their talk. The abstract shall include the presentation title along with other requested information listed on the following pages.
  • Most presentations will be 25 to 30 minutes in length, and allow 5 minutes for questions and answers. If you have a topic that requires longer than 30 minutes or you would be willing to be part of a longer session with attendee interaction, please note that in the abstract description box in the proposal submission form.
  • Presenters are asked to utilize MS PowerPoint software for the visual aid. A laptop computer and projector will be made available.
  • Final presentations will be required to be submitted electronically three (3) weeks prior to the conference.
  • The MWEA Program Committees will review all abstracts.
  • There is no limit to the number of abstracts that may be submitted by an individual or company/utility.
  • Membership in MWEA is not required for presentation.
  • Presenters do not need to pay conference registration fees for the day that they are presenting. Attending additional days of the conference may require a registration fee.
  • Presenters normally are not reimbursed for travel expenses nor receive honoraria.
  • Presenters may be asked to provide a recorded version of their presentation in the case of a hybrid online & in-person event.

General Abstract Submission
Please submit your abstract for the following 2025 events:

  • Maintenance (hosted jointly with MI-AWWA)
  • Process & Sustainable Energy

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Presenters shall provide a brief (one page or less) written abstract summarizing their presentation.
  • The abstract shall include the presentation title and presenter's contact info (name, title, contact email, contact phone & employer)
  • Presentations shall be 30 or 60 minutes in length, and allow 5 minutes for questions and answers. Please included if your presentation is 30 or 60 minutes.
  • Presenters are encouraged to utilize MS PowerPoint® software for the visual aid. The PowerPoint must be submitted to MWEA by the provided deadline prior to the event, if selected.  A laptop computer and projector will be provided for presenter use.
  • Presenters must be willing to allow MWEA to record their presentation for a virtual version of the event (if applicable), to be shared with registered attendees only, at the discretion of MWEA.
  • If selected to present, the Presenter must identify a back-up presenter, such as a colleague, to present in their place, in event that they cannot due to unforeseen circumstances
  • If selected to present, the Presenter agrees to meet all deadlines for presentation material submissions provided by MWEA.
  • If selected to present, the Presenter agree to graciously volunteer/donate their time to present to share their knowledge and expertise to help enhance and/or advance the water environment profession.


You will be contacted about a potential presentation date and time if your abstract is selected. Abstracts will be kept on file for one year.
