    Reasons to Get CWEA Certified

Our extensive CWEA Technical Certification Program is built around your major career milestones, serving as a roadmap to achieving your professional goals. Trusted by more than 5,000 wastewater professionals, CWEA’s certification program provides assurance of professional competency, training, and safe work practices.

Many wastewater agencies use CWEA’s certifications of professional competence as part of their hiring and promotional process, and some will require CWEA certification for employment.

Several agencies provide a pay bump when you achieve CWEA certification and additional incentives as you move-up to higher grade levels. Be sure to ask your employer about incentives.

Each program includes increasingly advanced Grade options that demonstrate your mastery of new skills to unlock new opportunities. Many wastewater professionals collect multiple certifications to demonstrate to employers they are willing to master new skills and are ready for promotion.

Note: This program is not recognized by EGLE nor does it replace EGLE's Michigan Operator Certifications.

    Looking for Credits to Renew?

Certification holders are required to meet Continuing Education (CE) requirements. This requirement is met by completing 12 contact hours (1.2 CEUs) of vocation-related education or training every two years. Certification holders may submit up to 50% (6 contact hours) of the required contact hours in safety related training.

Any kind of training is acceptable as long as it is related to the vocations in which certification is held. CWEA may send contact hour certificates to Subject Matter Experts to determine relevancy. For more details on CE requirements CLICK HERE.

MWEA and CWEA both offer credits through training and events in these categories. For more information, use the links below:
